Information

The photographer, a man with dark curly hair, turns his face away as magenta and violet prism light streaks across it, one eye still visible.

Portrait photography started, for me, with an absence. I had thousands of photographs of places and of other people, and not one of myself. So I learned portraiture the strange way: alone, on both sides of the camera, shooting self-portraits for a dating profile. They worked. The first date those pictures got me became my life partner.

That experience is the whole philosophy. A good portrait is not a record of a face; it is a story about a person, told well enough that they start to believe it themselves. I photograph people as the heroes of their own stories, and the self-confidence tends to follow the picture.

I work in New York and travel well. Sessions are built like small productions: idea first, then location, styling, and light. Sessions book online; anything bigger starts with an email.
